Rural Women Network's goal is to give a platform which will amplify and give visibility to rural grassroot women smallholder agriculture producers, indigenous women, widows, elderly and community health volunteers.
We endeavour to increase productivity, enhance livelihoods, promote climate smart and conservation agriculture and advance food, nutrition and economic security and resilience in the face of climate change.
Empowering Through Policy Localization
We empower grassroot rural women by localizing Agenda 2030 and other national and global policy frameworks so that grassroot women can align their daily work with these policies. Rural women are powerful partners in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other global policy frameworks.
We need to unleash their full potential, which will enable them to participate effectively in sustainable development by positioning them in decision making. It is not enough to sit as a passive listener at the decision-making table but being able to participate and engage.
Champions of the SDGs
We are champions of Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).
This will translate in reduction of poverty, hunger and malnutrition and environmental degradation. This will translate nice words on paper to action by not 'Leaving Rural Women and Youth Behind'.
Adopt a Sustainable Development Goal Movement
With the availability of resources, we want to initiate a movement 'Adopt a Sustainable Development Goal' for each of the groups that form the network to anchor localization of the Global Agenda 2030. The interventions will contribute to the achievement of the goals.
The focus will translate nice words on paper to action by not 'Leaving Rural Women and Youth Behind'.
